When Earth Talks

Sound Installation | Medium: Bone Conductor Transducers, wood, sound (real-time audio streaming), multichannel audio system

"When Earth Talks" explores the relation between sounds and sounding objects. Eight of bone conductor transducers embedded in the wooden structure emit sounds from four different locations: Kruger National Park (Africa), New Orleans, Chicago, and The Western Wall (Jerusalem). A variety of wood beams are extruded from the ground and walls in all directions, which informs about the direction of a particular location. Sounds become audible through the resonating objects that provide different tonal qualities. They get loud and soft and informational and illusory, depending on the position of the listener.
