When Earth Talks is a sound installaion that transforms wooden architecture into a live instrument for distant places.Bone-conduction transducers embedded in wooden beams cause the structures to resonate with real-time sounds from Kruger National Park, New Orleans, Chicago, and the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Each beam extends from the floor or wall in the geographic direction of its source, connecting physical orientation with remote geography. As listeners move through the installation, the sound shifts in tone and intensity, bringing four distant environments together within a constantly changing acoustic field.
