Encounter represents a symbolic meeting between two spirits, a father and a child. Rooted in the unresolved grief surrounding my father’s death in 1988, the work returns to the memory of his final conscious moments, when he repeatedly called for my help and I was unable to respond. Through this work, I confront the silence left by that moment and offer the answer I could not give him then inwardly. In the installation, two mirrored portraits slowly move toward one another until they converge in light. Their meeting transforms the room into an intimate space for recognition, reconciliation, and farewell.
