Mother’s Tears
Video Installation | Glass, Cast Cement, Wood, Video, and Sound
Mother’s Tears explores how the material form of a moving image can intensify its emotional weight. A trapped bird is projected onto thick glass forms, where it appears confined within the material. Functioning as both a screen and a barrier, the glass holds the image in place while keeping it beyond reach. The trapped bird evokes lives unable to escape, while the accompanying cast form represnts a body folded inward under the weight of grief and pain. Together, the work create a quiet space for mourning, remembrance, and bearing witness to the tragedy.
Dedicated to the 304 lives lost in the Sewol ferry disaster and the families left behind.
